Mania loss doesn't sit will with several of Cody's former AEW colleagues.

Cody Rhodes left a company he helped found last year to return to WWE after a six-year hiatus, telling fans in his first promo that it was to win the title that his father Dusty Rhodes could never capture, the WWF/E Championship.

Sunday, Rhodes had the opportunity to "finish the story" and cap off a magical run that had captivated even the most cynical fans, but the American Nightmare fell victim to Roman Reigns' calling card of ref bumps and Bloodline interference, losing in the main event of WrestleMania 39.

It was a controversial decision that could end up haunting WWE for years to come as an all-time boneheaded move, and some wrestlers took to social media late Sunday night to share their thoughts about their friend and - in the case of some AEW wrestlers - former colleague coming up short.

Sammy Guevara, who faced Cody in the very first match on Dynamite back in October 2019, simply tweeted, "WTF" minutes after the conclusion of the match. Powerhouse Hobbs echoed that sentiment with a "Wowwwwwww." Fuego Del Sole posted, "Shocked. Disappointed. Going to sleep" along with a GIF of he and Cody in bed together. Cassie Lee, who competed in WWE as Peyton Royce, had urged Cody to "finish the story" earlier Sunday before replying with an exasperated Jonah Hill GIF after the match.

And Cody's brother Dustin Rhodes simply posted a neutral face emoji afterward.

There are sure to be more reactions from wrestlers, and this absolutely will be a talking point for many in the immediate future.
