Creativity in pro wrestling is a vital prerequisite to making an entertaining product. Take away storylines and it becomes difficult to emotionally invest in two men pretending to fight each other. Ineffective scripting is the biggest problem facing WWE today, it ruins the audience's ability to suspend disbelief and leads to talented wrestlers being perceived as inferior. There have been various creative and booking errors that have marred WWE in 2013 - mistakes that have badly hurt the business as a whole. Everything has a knock on effect in this industry, bad creative leads to bad matches and poor angles, leading to declines in tv ratings, pay per view buys and merchandise sales. It is vitally important WWE gets creative right, yet all too often they get it badly wrong. In fairness to Vince McMahon and his creative empire, it must be difficult to produce 5 hours of fresh content each week. On a pay per view week the creative team has to be thinking about 8 hours of content that needs to close and open creative avenues of over 15 key characters. It is admittedly a tricky juggling act. Still, at a multi million dollar level the company should be able to cope with this. They mess up way too often for elite level professionals. We have at least seen some action taken to try and remedy the creative disasters of 2013, WWE relieved head writer Adam Rudman in May of this year, and as of December Paul 'Triple H' Levesque has been made head of creative for the company. This means that Hunter will now be in charge of all storylines and pushes, a job previously managed by Stephanie McMahon. All creative writing now goes through 'The Game.' What are the biggest mistakes WWE Creative made in 2013? We start off with an Honorable mention - Anything involving Tons of Funk or dance offs. It's WWE at its worst. It serves no purpose other than being filler, in other words it is lazy and unimaginative booking. No one in the world tunes into a wrestling show to watch grown men have a dancing competition. You feel like giving creative a slap and saying "Get a grip." As for Tons of Funk, what a waste of two guys - it is embarrassing to watch. We will add the entire divas division to the honourable mention. Creative either doesn't know what to do with the girls, or just doesn't care. Long gone are the days of genuine entertainment from the likes of Trish Stratus and Mickie James. Moving on, let's explore the 11 biggest mistakes WWE Creative made in 2013...
