WWE "Blown Away" By Elimination Chamber 2022 Reaction To Lita
The WWE Hall of Famer impressed in her return to singles action.
She may have ultimately come up short in her quest to dethrone Becky Lynch as the Raw Women's Champion at yesterday's WWE Elimination Chamber show, but Lita made quite an impression on WWE management during her return to in-ring singles action.
As per PWInsider, several people within WWE were said to be "blown away" by the reception Lita received from those in attendance in the Jeddah Super Dome.
Technically, this was the four-time Women's Champion's first singles match in ten years, with her last solo outing being a victory over Heath Slater back in 2012. That was part of an ongoing storyline where Slater was calling out WWE legends, only to get laid out each and every week by a different icon of the business.
Prior to that, Lita's last singles bout was at the 2006 Survivor Series. There, she lost the Women's Title to Mickie James before announcing her retirement from in-ring competition. The real-life Amy Dumas has since talked about how a part of her decision to retire was due to the intrusions into her private life the prior 18 months had seen following the very real situation with her, Matt Hardy and Edge being made into a part of WWE programming.
There was no big farewell for Lita back in '06, but the WWE Hall of Famer certainly got a send-off yesterday that was more fitting of her status as a revolutionary talent should this indeed be the end of the road for Dumas' wrestling career.
One also has to wonder, given the huge fan reaction to Lita and how well the match with Lynch was received, it could well be that WWE will be keen to have the veteran compete in another match or two further down the line...
