WWE: 5 Awful Superstar Nicknames

By Andrew Joshua /

Nowadays in WWE it seems creative is extremely uncreative when it comes to wrestler's nicknames. I mean, they just seem so basic nowadays, nicknames used to be directly associated with gimmicks and were far more memorable. For example some of my favourite nicknames are; HHH's, The Game' and 'The Cerebral Assassin' these two nicknames suited his character completely as Triple H is known for being calculating in the ring, exploiting an opponents weakness and using it to his advantage. Another good one is of course Bret Hart's 'Best There Is...' since it was all about how in the ring Bret was legitimately a great wrestler. Lets just take the time to look at five God awful nicknames in the WWE in recent year.

5. The Great White - Sheamus

I swear the more I hear it the more I hate it. It's clear that he's pale, anyone can tell that when he's standing next to anyone else, but I don't want to be reminded about it so much. Sheamus went from being "The Celtic Warrior" although it may not be greatest nickname a superstar has ever had, it is by far a better name. Sheamus was fine as "The Celtic Warrior" but rather than that highlighting his proud Irish heritage WWE switched the focus to Sheamus' skin colour with the ridiculous nickname "The Great White". I know this is meant to make us think of a great white shark but when combined with other issues that's one of the last things it brings to mind.
