WWE: 5 Reasons Why Turning CM Punk Heel Was Wrong

CM Punk shocked the world and turned heel on the 1000th episode of Monday Night Raw, but was it the right decision?

By Connor Devine /

So RAW 1000 was this past Monday and let's just say it ended in one of the biggest shocks in recent memory. WWE Champion CM Punk has apparently turned heel. Punk closed the show in a WWE title match with Cena, but by the end of the night had put The Rock to sleep, which you would think would turn him into an instant heat magnet and a top heel right? Wrong! I am here to tell you why turning CM Punk heel was the wrong decision on WWE's part.

5. He Is Going To Be Cheered

The fans want to cheer Punk. It is as simple as that. The fans realise just how good he is and enjoy him too much to hate him. Even as a heel he seems to one up his opponent on the mic, the time where the face should be shown as the dominant character. Take last summer for example, you just now that Vince was praying for Cena to be cheered over Punk but it just wasn't happening like that. As a result of his actions last summer CM Punk became the hottest property in wrestling and was getting monster pops, when Vince wanted him as a heel. The fact of the matter is Punk is so damn good as a heel it's bad!

4. What Is There To Do Until January That Is Worthwhile?

It is pretty obvious to me that they were setting up CM Punk Vs The Rock at the Royal Rumble next year, after their interactions on RAW 1000. But once Cena reclaims the belt at Summerslam, which I am pretty sure he will do, Punk will have very little direction. Sure he may have a rematch on RAW or at the next Pay Per View, which I believe is in Cena's home town (good luck winning that one Punk), but then what? He has October and November with no opponent. They may stick him in a feud with a mid card face such as a Sin Cara but, to borrow from my first point, he will be undoubtedly cheered in that feud. A talent like CM Punk is far too good for the mid card. He will win the belt back at the TLC PPV in December but it won't be a clean win, which leads me onto my next point.
