WWE Announce New WrestleMania 34 Match On SmackDown
Don't expect Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn to happen though...
Shane McMahon announced on SmackDown that he planned to take a leave of absence from the show and that Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn would go one-on-one at WrestleMania 34.
Moments later, McMahon was the victim of a show-ending beat down at the hands of both, and it now looks more likely that the match will be turned into another Triple Threat in New Orleans; with one for the Intercontinental Title already set, and another three-way for the US Title looking probable, that would mean at least three Triple Threats on the one show for WWE.
Vicious spots like KO/Sami wrapping a steel chair around Shane's neck before ramming him into the ring post and Owens Powerbombing the SmackDown Commissioner onto some scaffolding backstage suggest there's no way McMahon is taking a short sabbatical pre-WrestleMania.
Expect him to either miss next week's episode entirely or appear via pre-tape and reveal he wants in on the match in April. This is surely all part of the ongoing power struggle Shane has with SmackDown GM Daniel Bryan too.
Maybe WWE will go one step further and decide to install Bryan as a guest referee for the match. It makes sense.
