WWE Announces Interesting Seth Rollins Match For Backlash 2023
Seth Rollins' opponent for Backlash was announced on the latest episode of WWE SmackDown.
WWE announced that Seth Rollins will wrestle Omos at the upcoming Backlash pay-per-view on 6 May during Friday's episode of SmackDown.
The company is touting this showdown as a bumper "first time ever" clash. It is, but it's also quite a random addition to the card - both men had well-received matches at WrestleMania 39, but Seth won his (vs. Logan Paul) whilst Omos stared at the lights for Brock Lesnar.
Now, they'll collide in Puerto Rico.
Fans should expect some sort of build to start on Monday's edition of Raw, and the whole deal should be viewed as something of a mini-feud for Seth. It's an easy way to get both he and Omos on the Backlash card, basically, and definitely won't be a long-term rivalry.
It will, however, be interesting to see if creative hands Omos another loss. Backlash is falling in an awkward spot right after the upcoming 2023 Draft, so this is a sensitive time for the towering giant. Too many losses could do irreparable damage to his aura.
Meanwhile, Rollins could probably eat defeat without losing too much of his star power.
