WWE may finally have a sequel to the critically acclaimed Evolution pay-per-view in the works.

PWUnlimited reported that WWE are pondering the possibility of producing either Evolution 2 of a second night for SummerSlam on August 30th, one week after the original date of the pay-per-view.

Despite being almost unanimously lauded as one of the best WWE shows of the decade (and beyond) back in 2018, the company haven't yet followed up on the original incarnation of the show. The event featured talents from all three brands and was headlined by Ronda Rousey and Nikki Bella, with Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch having the highest profile clash in the evening's semi-main. With at least three of those four unable to work it should the above date confirmed, it may explain a recent shift in focus on WWE television to its most prominent female stars.

It remains mostly rumour and speculation at present, but the report went on to allude that the likes of Bayley, Sasha Banks and Asuka were being pushed "really hard" lately, with the event perhaps considered a possible motivator.

More on this story when it (hopefully) develops.
