WWE Considering John Cena Heel Turn To Shake Up Product?
Are WWE fans finally about to get their wish?
John Cena's long-awaited heel return may finally be on the horizon. Forbes reports that WWE's creative team are seriously considering the idea of turning their biggest draw heel, and positioning him in a similar way to Hulk Hogan's 1996 WCW turn.
Vince McMahon is understood to be the major roadblock, but WWE are looking to make big changes in light of Raw and SmackDown's ratings woes. Turning Cena heel would be a huge, landscape-altering move that would allow WWE to utlilise him to put over the next generation of babyfaces, but fans will need to be patient.
Cena is currently on hiatus while filming the next series of American Grit, and isn't set to return for several months. If WWE go ahead with the turn, they may opt to wait for the biggest stage of them all: WrestleMania 33.
Forbes also reports that WWE are looking to put a new stable together, though they're understandably wary after the League of Nations disaster. Creative recently floated the idea of a recreation of WCW's Varsity Club: a collegiate-themed group with significant amateur wrestling pedigree.
Jack Swagger's move to SmackDown keeps this possibility on the table. The likes of Dolph Ziggler, Shelton Benjamin, and American Alpha have been touted as potential stablemates, with Kurt Angle's name also being mentioned.
