WWE: Daniel Bryan Cleared For Competing At Royal Rumble

By Grahame Herbert /

Daniel Bryan has been cleared for in-ring competition at Sunday's Royal Rumble, according to PWinsider. Doctors assessed the popular star backstage before Raw, deeming that he had recovered fully from the concussion he sustained last week. This comes as welcome news to the WWE, Vince McMahon reportedly being very high on Bryan right now. Likewise, the WWE Universe will be elated, with the former WWE Champion proving to be one of the most vocally supported acts in years right now. What this news means is that Bryan will go ahead to face Bray Wyatt in a one on one match at the Rumble Sunday. This was confirmed during Monday Night Raw. It stands out as an attractive undercard feature for the show (which also boasts Brock Lesnar vs Big Show and Orton vs Cena) - the Rumble is shaping up to be an all round great night. We can expect the talented Wyatt and Bryan to provide an excellent encounter, a logical conclusion to the slightly hit and miss storyline we have seen play out in recent weeks. It remains to be seen if Bryan will be added to the Rumble match itself. My personal opinion is that he will dispatch of Wyatt and enter the 30 man contest. This would set up another element of drama to the over the top rope contest, as many fans perceive Bryan as a viable winner. As for his actual chances of winning, it has undoubtedly been discussed at some stage within WWE creative. Bryan has played the ultimate underdog over the last few months, who is still awaiting his redeeming chance after being screwed out of the WWE Championship. The Rumble win is the perfect story telling move for Bryan's next character progression - but with Batista back the company may have changed gears on their preferred Wrestlemania main eventer.
