WWE Denies "Push Eva Marie" Sign At Live Events
WWE's live event censoring has officially lost its marbles.
More so than most forms of live performance art, fan-signs play a big part of being in the audience for a professional wrestling show. Those attending will put hours of work into their signs, whether they are shows of appreciation or 'hilariously' ironic for their most liked or disliked superstars. Such signs have always been an integral part of the live show experience.
World Wrestling Entertainment has something of a history of censoring these signs, but more often than not most will get through. Sure, a sign saying 'book Punk vs. Hogan' might get swiped, but you'd think that a sign showing support for one of WWE's pet projects would be fine.
Which makes it all the more surprising that the sign pictured above was denied entry to an NXT live event in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Simply reading 'Push Eva Marie', word has it that the sign didn't even make it past the door.
This is peculiar for sure, but coming up with various reasons as to why it was denied entry is quite fun. Maybe security felt it was ironic? Or maybe they realised that Eva Marie was going to be pushed regardless, making the sign somewhat superfluous? Maybe even the two differently shaped hearts offended a particularly symmetry-conscious door man?
