WWE Gave THIS SmackDown Star "12 Hours Notice" For His New Role
A SmackDown newcomer had one night to prep for his new WWE role.
Rick Boogs was only given 12 short hours to learn Shinsuke Nakamura's theme on guitar.
The SmackDown hype man told Corey Graves on 'After The Bell' that WWE chiefs text him the night before his blue brand debut and said they wanted him to play Shin to the ring. Bruce Prichard had shown Vince McMahon some footage from Boogs' Instagram page that showed him twanging a guitar.
The problem? Rick hadn't really practiced the instrument for approx "15 years". He knew he was in for a long, sleepless night then.
Boogs stayed up and obsessively tried to learn Nakamura's trademark lick; the hardest thing about it was that Shin's theme is played on violin, which...isn't the same as guitar. Nobody in WWE gave a damn about that though. They wanted what they wanted, and Rick knew it.
During rehearsals the next day, Triple H said that something didn't sound quite right. He wanted Boogs to turn down the distortion on his guitar and try to mimic the higher-pitched sounds of the violin. Instead of complaining, Boogs did his best and eventually got the job done.
His dedication impressed McMahon.
