WWE "Giving Up" On Bo Dallas' Push

The once promising superstar has been hurt by management losing faith in him.

This week's Wrestling Observer Newsletter by Dave Meltzer had a news item about how WWE has soured on Bo Dallas. According to the report, Vince McMahon and WWE officials have "given up" on the push for Dallas, which is why he lost to R-Truth on Raw a few weeks ago in a move that surprised a lot of us. The character had a lot of momentum and then all of a sudden he lost to a guy like Truth that was barely on television. It was reported weeks ago that Vince McMahon was losing interest in some of the newer gimmicks like Adam Rose and Dallas, so this is a result of that. It's a shame that it happened because the "Bolieve" gimmick was fun to watch. You could tell the crowds were reacting well to it. The undefeated streak was really getting over and it helped that heel commentator JBL was putting over as if it was the greatest thing in wrestling today. Then he lost to R-Truth on July 28 and that killed all of his momentum. The positive thing for Dallas is that he's only 24 years old. He's one of the younger guys on the main roster. There are guys ten years older than him in NXT with a decade of experience that are better all around performers than him, but Dallas had a gimmick that was interesting. That's why got called up. It's similar to when Cody Rhodes (another wrestler with a famous dad) got called up to WWE's roster for at age 22 and it took a while for him to really get over. Look at how many different gimmicks Cody has had. He was a young babyface tag wrestler with Bob Holly, then he turned heel to join the Legacy group, then he became "Dashing" Cody Rhodes, then he turned into a freak that wrestled with a mask, then he teamed with Sandow, which led to a face turn and now he's in that Stardust gimmick. You can make the case that he really isn't in a much higher position then when he started and he's still considered young at 29 years old. Dallas has plenty of time on his side. While we don't know this as a fact, perhaps McMahon has soured on Dallas because of his look. We all know that McMahon loves wrestlers that are very muscular and Dallas has a bit of a gut to him, so maybe that's part of the reason too. His brother Bray Wyatt isn't a "ripped" wrestler either, but he gets by because of his unique gimmick and he wrestles in a shirt. The ending of Dallas' streak is more proof that just because a character is working at NXT, or that Triple H might really like that gimmick there, does not mean it will be a successful gimmick on the main roster. In addition to Dallas, people like Adam Rose and Emma are experiencing the same thing although Rose was barely in NXT as that character. Hang in there, Bo. Hopefully one day Vince and company will "bolieve" in you again.
