"That's a nice pay-per-view streaming service you've got there," Vince McMahon typed into his Twitter drafts, smiling. "Shame if someone... bought it."

Regardless of whether or not the WWE Chairman chose to meme himself in this latest pursuit, it looks like his promotion are set to fire the next major shot in 2019's new wrestling war, with the Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer writing that that company are interested in buying the FITE platform. WWE officials have held talks with more expected to happen in the coming weeks.

FITE, of course, has not only provided a home to All Elite Wrestling's three pay-per-views (and All In) in international markets, but also shows from Impact, Ring Of Honor, and a horde of independent groups.

This is a potentially game-changing move as it would effectively force AEW and other competitors to drastically change their methods of distribution. There's a good chance of it going down, too, as Meltzer claims WWE's interest is so strong that meetings have already been held about the situation.

In his writeup, Meltzer speculates that WWE might use FITE as part of the tiered Network subscription levels confirmed during last month's Q2 2019 earnings call. On the other hand, there's every chance they're only doing it to stifle competition. Time will tell.
