WWE's talent acquisition efforts never sleep and if a new report from Sportskeeda's Tom Colohue is to be believed, It looks like the promotion currently has its eye on New Japan Pro Wrestling's Jay White.

Per the writeup, WWE staff have wanted to bring 'Switchblade' over to America for quite some time, with one source referring to him as a "perfect WWE guy that fits the Vince McMahon mould." A fair appraisal of White's Western-influenced performing style, which has made him a divisive figure amongst English-speaking NJPW fans.

Colohue also notes that while the McMahons apparently "don't watch Wrestle Kingdom," they have checked out a bunch of White matches they've been shown, hence the interest.

If WWE is chasing White, they'd likely need to wait until 2021 before picking him. NJPW contracts traditionally begin and end in late December/early January. Given that Jay is currently booked up for February's New Beginning tour, he won't be going anywhere anytime soon.

Though he didn't win Wrestle Kingdom 14's Double Gold Dash tournament, falling to Tetsuya Naito at the opening stage, White was able to best Kota Ibushi in the third-place match thanks, once again, to assistance from manager Gedo.
