WWE No Mercy 2016: Ranking Every Match From Worst To Best
The Miz steals the show (again).
Mediocre. That's one word to describe Smackdown Live's latest PPV event, which was 50% sub-TV fodder, 25% forgettably decent and only 25% good enough to actually be worth remembering.
It's not much of a surprise, as anyone who studied the card could probably figure it out for themselves, but it really only added more fuel to the fire that these brand-specific events invite low-effort booking for an easy buck.
Sure, there were quite a few satisfying results, but real quality wrestling was depressingly fleeting, and it just didn't do much interesting to move these storylines and characters forward.
Still, at least there was the amusing novelty factor of the main event going on first and the show closing out with an extremely anti-climactic final match. Cross your fingers for October 30th's Hell in a Cell showing a little more in the way of effort.
Here is every WWE No Mercy 2016 match ranked from worst to best...
8. Alexa Bliss Vs. Naomi
Result: Naomi counters Alexa's Cross Arm Breaker into a sneaky pin (5:25).
Rating: This one was doomed from the outset because pretty much everyone watching was massively deflated by not only the absence of Becky Lynch but her unimaginative replacement being...Naomi.
The live crowd were dead throughout and clearly just wanted it to finish as soon as it started. It didn't do a whole lot egregiously wrong exactly: its worst crime is merely being a forgettable, fairly dull match, complete with a bizarre anti-climax of a finish that felt like swerve booking for no sake but its own.
It made a lot of sense for Alexa to win here building towards her rescheduled November match against Becky, but alas, no dice. 4/10
