WWE: Paul Heyman's 10 Greatest Protegees

By Marcus K. Dowling /

Long before there was ever such a thing as a "Paul Heyman Guy," Paul E. Dangerously was just a damned fine wrestling manager who was affiliated with some of the most captivating in-ring talents of the past two-plus decades of professional wrestling. There's something to be said about chemistry though. Thus, when a charismatic performer like Heyman is added to the character of another similarly charismatic performer, a spark is lit that captivates the imagination of fans worldwide, and thus fills a promoter's coffers - oftentimes at a higher-than-usual rate of earning. Wikipedia estimates that the number of wrestlers Heyman has managed in his career is somewhere around 40. Thus, to keep things neat, let's name ten of these protegees who were truly either benefited by Heyman's presence in the sense that it a) elevated their characters to match their in-ring talents or b) spotlighted them as being some of the best characters-as-plot devices at any specific era in wrestling history. Do note that given that Cesaro has only been with Paul Heyman for just over two months, he is not on this list. However, in due time, he'll likely rank near the top.
