WWE: Ranking The 5 Best Belt Designs

By Brett Chandler /

As seen this past Monday night on Raw, a brand new WWE Championship title belt was introduced by Dwayne €œThe Rock€ Johnson following his victory over former champion CM Punk at Elimination Chamber. While many were content with the reveal of the new title belt design, many were also unhappy and some were even hypocritical with them previously wanting a new belt and now wanting to revert it back to the €œspinner€ design. I, personally, was indifferent to it. However, I could not help but reminisce to past WWE championship designs and, as a result, I came up with the best five not only in today€™s WWE, but in WWE€™s history as a whole.

5. WWE Hardcore Championship

Our first title of the list comes in the form of the WWE Hardcore Championship, which existed from late 1998 until mid-2002. I am as surprised as you are with the title lasting less than four complete years as it has provided us a number of miserable moments such as Crash Holly€™s 24/7 defenses, the continuous matches for the title at WrestleMania X8 and its involvement in creating some of the shortest title reigns in wrestling history. When first awarded to Mankind, the title was meant for comedic segments in an attitudinal WWE, but quickly, it developed its following and as rapidly as it gained its following, it gained relevance to the product. This title design is not pretty, but it is surely effective and fits the title to a tee. As you can clearly see, the Hardcore Championship is a replica of the €œWinged Eagle€ WWE Championship that has been completely wrecked and then poorly put together with white duct tape that has the words €œWWE/F Hardcore Champion€ scribbled on top in black marker. As I said before, the title is not pretty. In fact, it€™s probably an ugly design, but it represents the title to its full extent. It€™s beaten, battered and bruised €“ everything that a hardcore match should be.
