WWE's assertion that wrestlers won't suffer repercussions for electing to stay at home rather than work through the ongoing global health crisis is apparently being taken with a pinch of salt backstage.

A new report from the Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer states that "there is a lot of unhappiness" from WWE higher-ups that "Zayn exercised the option they gave everyone," though "nobody can say it publicly for obvious reasons." Later, Meltzer writes that "I know of several people in the company who are not comfortable about working right now but were not able to take WWE up on the offer for job security reasons, and this was before all the firings."

Zayn was this week stripped of the Intercontinental Championship after deciding against working during the ongoing global situation. A tournament to crown his successor begins on SmackDown tonight, though no participants have been announced.

Roman Reigns is the only other name to go public over deciding to stay at home, with 'The Big Dog' staying put for family reasons. WWE banning the use of his name on television and editing him out of WrestleMania 31 footage led to talk that he was being punished for his choice.
