WWE Sands Of Time Logo Leaked?
Yes, they're really going with that name.
We reported yesterday that one of the names under consideration for WWE's next inevitably disastrous junket to Jeddah was the lame-as-lycra 'Sands of Time', in accidental homage to the 2003 PS2 classic Prince of Persia.
An image has now squirmed its way onto the internet, such as they tend to, which appears to confirm the sable-centric appellation.
There's not really much to make of it beyond, yup, it's an hourglass. Obviously, the company are leaning heavily on the 'desert' concept, one of the things for which the Middle East is reductively known in the West. Ironically Jeddah actually sits on the coast of the Red Sea. Maybe it's inspired by the beach, who knows.
And frankly, who really cares. Given Saudi Arabia's human rights record, a poster echoing King of the Ring '98's would be more apt. It's not yet clear how WWE will theme the show around the name, unless it involves political dissidents being surreptitiously buried in a grave of sand.
Given The Undertaker is scheduled for the show, and the promotion's alarming tone deafness, you wouldn't put some shovel-based gimmick match past them.
The wrestling world hits another low on Friday, 7 June.
