WWE Spokesman Denies Big Show Death Rumours
Hoax report dismissed by multiple sources.
Big Show is alive and well, despite reports to the contrary.
On December 10, a blog simply called "WWE" reported that the star had been involved in a car accident and had died at the hospital. Though it took a while for the rumor to pick up traction, by Wednesday, it was widespread enough that the Associated Press reached out to the company for a statement.
Chris Belitti, a spokesman for WWE, responded to the AP, telling the outlet that Big Show was alive and well, and that the aforementioned blog was in no way affiliated with the company.
Paul "Big Show" Wight has been a mainstay with WWE since 1999, barring a brief sabbatical from the company that lasted from late 2006 to early 2008. During his 17 years with the company, he held the WWE World Championship twice, the World Heavyweight Championship twice, the ECW Championship once, and a host of midcard titles. He's scheduled to take on Shaquille O'Neal in a major match at WrestleMania 33.
Big Show appeared at Wednesday evening's Raw brand house show at Brooklyn's Barclays Center, knocking out Bo Dallas with a WMD punch.
