WWE SummerSlam 2023 Makes Company History ALREADY
SummerSlam 2023 is a huge success for WWE four months before it happens!
WWE's upcoming SummerSlam 2023 has started breaking records and making company history four months before it happens.
The 5 August supershow, set to be held in Detroit's Ford Field, has already shifted "more than" 32,000 tickets. Sports Business Journal reports that this is "the largest day-one sale for any stadium event outside of WrestleMania in company history".
Wow - that's massive.
WrestleMania 23 previously set a record for the stadium back in 2007. There, WWE hauled in a reported 80,103 fans to the then-five year old venue. Now, in 2023, you just know Vince McMahon and Triple H will be keen to break that number. 80,104, anyone?
Seriously though, that opening day 32,000 figure is impressive. It means that WWE is well on the way to ensuring a full house (or close to it) come August. The promotion has been pulling in huge attendances for other stadium shows, including WrestleMania, but the fact they're able to keep doing so for non-'Mania events deserves praise.
Keep in mind that SummerSlam is four months away, so WWE hasn't even started any TV build or announced any matches that'll take place on the card.
