Whenever someone laments about the problems the WWE has, almost always someone is going to gripe about the World Heavyweight Championship and how it has lost its lustre. They point out how the Big Gold Belt which has more heritage than the other major title, has been dragged through the dirt in the past couple of years to become little more than a Wrestlemania afterthought at Wrestlemania 28. Some believe that the WWE are treating this belt as kind of 'Super-Intercontinental Championship'- to be given to those workers who can be trusted to put on good matches as they prepare for the big step up to main event status. They then think the answer is to be rid of the Intercontinental Title- an idea that would rob the WWE of one of its most prestigious belts that has been held by the likes of Shawn Michaels, The Rock, Triple H, CM Punk, Chris Jericho and many more greats of the age. Like my article about what went wrong with the Miz's Championship reign, this article will examine what the Big Gold Belt had going for it before looking at why the World Heavyweight Championship has seemingly become more inferior to the other world title. Furthermore, it will examine what can be done to rectify the problem.
