Expecting WWE to announce concrete plans for their UK-based show is a lot like waiting for the 30th of February at this point. The company line remains "never today, always tomorrow," and they've continually promised an announcement without ever delivering one, though this week's Wrestling Observer Newsletter offers a fresh update.

According to the report, WWE have told several of their UK wrestlers that they currently plan on starting the show in early 2018. They'll soon book several buildings as placeholders in the event of a TV deal materialising, which is in-line with last month's reports that the company had pitched the show to ITV.

WWE held tryouts in Manchester with the aim of scouting wrestlers for the show as part of last week's European tour. It's likely that they'd supplement the existing UK roster, including Mark Andrews, Tyler Bate, and champion Pete Dunne.

As always, these reports should be taken cynically. Barely a month passes without a story like this leaking, and while the WON is a reliable source, WWE have reneged on their British promises several times this year. For the talent's sake, here's hoping there's something to these new reports.
