WWE Unhappy With NXT TV Ratings?

NXT has continually failed to outdo AEW in the Wednesday Night Wars.

With NXT suffering another Wednesday Night Wars ratings defeat to AEW Dynamite this week, WrestlingNews.co's Paul Davis has published a new report with information from a backstage WWE source claiming that Vince McMahon is personally frustrated with the black-and-gold brand's TV numbers.

This comes in the wake of a complete reconfiguration of the Raw and SmackDown creative teams, with Paul Heyman removed as an Executive Director. Davis states that there aren't necessarily any changes coming to NXT creative, though there's talk of more Raw and SmackDown wrestlers appear on the show to help out, as was the intended goal of Charlotte Flair's recent NXT run.

McMahon has good reason to be unhappy with NXT's performance. The brand's overall viewership has outdone AEW Dynamite on only a handful of occasions since going head-to-head last October, having never beaten their rivals in the field that really matters: the 18-49 demographic. Their old "this is a marathon, not a one-night sprint" comment from the first head-to-head week looks an increasingly bigger self-own with every passing battle.

Flair's NXT outings did nothing to spark viewership or overall interest, so it'll be interesting to see what move WWE makes next.
