WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar isn't expected to defend his belt until SummerSlam on August 19th, according to Dave Meltzer in this week's Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Meltzer writes that while 'The Beast Incarnate' is tentatively headlining that show, nothing is set in stone, and plans could still change. Brock isn't currently scheduled to appear on either at Money In The Bank (June 15th) or Extreme Rules (July 15th).

Lesnar's last Universal Title match took place at the Greatest Royal Rumble on April 27th. If the reports are true, it'll mean a gap of almost four months between defences, though this 114-day barren period remarkably, this would only be the second longest of his run, as 126 days passed between his matches at No Mercy 2017 and the 2018 Royal Rumble.

Whether or not Brock chooses to re-enter the USADA drug testing pool for the UFC by June 30th could be key. If he doesn't, Meltzer believes he'll stay with WWE. Otherwise, Lesnar is working towards running down the suspension incurred after fighting Mark Hunt at UFC 200, and could be plotting an MMA return.

Whatever Brock's future holds, expect frustration towards his absentee champion status to peak with this latest story.
