WWE Working On New Randy Savage Documentary DVD
PWInsider that WWE is working on a "Macho Man" Randy Savage documentary for a future DVD release. This wouldn't be the first DVD about Savage because WWE released a 3-disc set in 2009 that featured only his matches. By that point the company had done a lot of documentaries of wrestlers, but the Savage one lacked one. It was a disappointment at the time because it would have been great to see WWE tell his story the right way. Here we are five years later and it looks like WWE is finally ready to pay tribute to the Macho Man. Savage is generally considered by fans to be the greatest WWE performer that is not in the WWE Hall of Fame. He left the company in 1994 to go to WCW and never returned to WWE before passing away in 2011. The only involvement he had with WWE was after he signed a deal with the Mattel toy company for an action figure and also the WWE All Stars video game. This news is something that wrestling fans should get excited about for two reasons: 1) These WWE documentaries are excellent. They have done so many great ones on DVD releases for the likes of Steve Austin, Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Edge, CM Punk, Chris Jericho and so many others. On WWE Network in the last couple of months they also had great documentary features about Daniel Bryan and Ultimate Warrior. They really know how to pay tribute to these performers by having others talking about them and covering the key moments of their career. 2) It might mean he's going into WWE Hall of Fame soon. There hasn't been any reports of it happening and the Hall of Fame talk really doesn't heat up until the new year, but if they're going to pay tribute to him like this then it's very possible. His brother Lanny Poffo aka The Genius said that Savage wanted his whole family (meaning his dad Angelo Poffo) in, but he's also said that if WWE wants to do it he won't stop them either. It's a great sign that WWE is making a documentary highlighting the career of Randy Savage. He was the favorite wrestler of so many wrestling fans growing up, myself included, and it will be awesome to see them pay tribute to him the way he deserves. We will have more updates on the documentary and DVD as it gets closer to the release date whether that's later this year or early next year.
