WWE Working On New "NXT Underground" Concept?

No, it wouldn't have anything to do with Raw Underground...

WWE was planning to potentially introduce a brand new NXT-related concept prior to the latest outbreak of COVID-19 at the Performance Center, reports Fightful Select.

The idea was talked about in 2019 and again earlier this year. Once titled "NXT Underground," it was brought up long before Raw Underground became a thing, with Shane McMahon now hosting his "fight club" on a weekly basis on Monday nights. The only similarity between the two ideas would be the use of extras as audience members.

The original pitch wasn't unanimously accepted and was put on ice as a result of this, though it's thought that a pilot episode was filmed at the Performance Center last summer. Ryan Katz, a WWE producer since 2015, is believed to be behind it.

With the NXT Underground concept brought back up in September, former EVOLVE stars and NXT wrestlers who aren't always making television at the moment would likely be used, though there's no word on whether or not it'll be picked back up following the latest outbreak.

WWE currently produces around 9 hours of original weekly content across Raw, SmackDown, NXT, NXT UK, and 205 Live.
