WWE WrestleMania 39: Update On Shane McMahon & Finn Balor's Injuries
Backstage latest on Finn Balor and Shane McMahon following respective WrestleMania 39 injuries.
Finn Balor and Shane McMahon were both injured while competing at WWE WrestleMania 39 - and updates on both have emerged following the show's second night.
Paul 'Triple H' Levesque confirmed during the post-WrestleMania press conference that McMahon had suffered a torn quad in his impromptu match with The Miz. The 53-year-old had been introduced as Miz's unexpected opponent by guest host Snoop Dogg, who ended up "wrestling" 'The A-Lister' himself when Shane went down, scoring the pinfall after an elbow drop.
McMahon appeared to suffer the injury while leapfrogging Miz less than a minute into the match. Taking an awkward landing, Shane went down immediately, necessitating medical attention.
Balor, meanwhile, might be amongst the toughest people in the company for how he gutted it out during his Hell In A Cell match with Edge, having had a head wound stapled shut in the throes of battle.
Finn was legitimately busted open when Edge threw a steel chair at his head during the contest. PWInsider reports that while Edge was distracting people from the situation by pulling out weapons, Balor was administered a numbing agent. Officials then used staples to close the cut, allowing Finn to continue the match, which he ended up losing via Con-Chair-To.
There is currently no word of how long Balor may be sidelined.
