WWE's Elias Out For Months With Muscle Tear
Troubadour set to miss significant ring time.
Per the Wrestling Observer Newsletter's Dave Meltzer, Elias has suffered a torn pectoral muscle and will be out of action for "months". A specific timeframe is not available, though Triple H, between Crown Jewel 2018 and WrestleMania 35, missed six months with the same injury.
It was also reported that Elias was used specifically in the divisive hit-and-run angle from the June 5 SmackDown consequently: as a means of killing two birds with one tasteless and desperate stone.
If there is any consolation where such a significant injury is involved, it's that Elias - or WWE's presentation of the character - is a performer that more than most is heavily reliant on the response of the crowd to get over, and has struggled to reclaim the buzz with which he first arrived on the main roster. Angles like the ACME splat ahead of WrestleMania - and the subsequent, borderline miraculous recovery - have not helped very much, either.
Hopefully, his return coincides with a a return to relative normality, and we can jeer in full voice at his hilarious heel deadpan witticisms once more.
