WWE's Kelly Kelly: How It Started Vs How It Ended

It's not exactly been a decade-and-a-half of destruction, but Kelly Kelly made it all count...

Kelly Kelly's Royal Rumble 2022 return was achingly similar to the other special guests in the bout in that outside of her theme hitting, it was somewhat underwhelming.

Little of it was her fault (and more on what actually went down still to follow), but the former Divas Champion was pretty much made to suffer the creative indifference and ignominy most of her fellow returnees were.

Ultimately, it was a strange night for the comeback queens of bygone eras. Melina entered at #2 with all the grandiosity of her original 2005 arrival, but was eliminated by Sasha Banks in just 53 seconds. And much of that was spent soaking up the moment. Cameron got just 51, serving as a prop for the Sonya Deville/Naomi story. Summer Rae split the difference with 52, dropping an almighty F-bomb en route to a short brawl with Natalya before going the same way as her former colleagues.

Even when the likes of Alicia Fox, The Bella Twins and Michelle McCool got a little longer, they weren't permitted to leave much of an impression. That, at very least couldn't be said for Kelly Kelly, who maximised her minute (singular) the exact way she'd managed to over 15 years earlier.

And all this from the woman routinely reminded by the commentariat that she couldn't really run the ropes.
