XFL Is Done - All Employees Fired
Could this be the end (again!) for Vince McMahon's football league?
After Vince McMahon spent the past couple of years trying to get his once-failed XFL back up and running, it looks as if the football league is once again on the skids.
This relaunched XFL had previously been put on hold indefinitely due to the ongoing chaos being experienced across the globe, and today brings news that the organisation has now suspended all operations and laid off its entire workforce.
This news first came from ESPN’s Field Yates, with Dave Meltzer quick to chime in with his thoughts.
As mentioned by Meltzer, this really does look like being ‘it’ for this rebooted XFL.
Previously, the initial suspension on the league was to lead to matters picking up again in 2021. Now though, Vince McMahon is facing up to the very real possibility that he may have to axe his football league once again.
The early feedback to the few XFL games that took place earlier this year was largely a mixed bag. That said, early TV ratings were promising – even if TV numbers did start to drop as the weeks went on.
With UFC 249 finally called off, all other major sports in North America on hold, and now the XFL in limbo, it remains to be seen whether McMahon and his inner circle will finally make the call to put the current WWE product on some sort of hiatus.
