There is an age old stereotype that comic book fans are overweight, antisocial and frankly unhealthy people. This isnt really the case, but behind most stereotypes there is an inch of truth, and this is no exception. Without knowing it, collecting all those comic books can be a risk to your health, both physically and mentally. Comic book heroes may be infallible, but idolising these invulnerable and omnipotent creations has led each and every fan down a dangerous path - who hasnt wanted to be a hero at some point in their life? Can everybody say that theyve never tried to be a bit of a daredevil because of the antics of a comic character? This doesnt mean that everyone has tied a red blanket around their necks and jumped out of windows pretending to be Superman, but plenty have placed themselves in risky situations because of the high minded nobility instilled by the values espoused in comic books - bravery, standing up for the little guy and so on. Everyone is different, and some of these entries may not apply to everyone, but for most this article should make you realise that your comic book collection is to blame for your bad health.
