10 Reasons Being A Comic Book Fan Is Bad For Your Health
10. The Comic-Con Crush
Comic-Con is like a fabled Mecca, where comic book fans make an annual pilgrimage to meet their favourite writers and artists - as well as to thicken their collection and purchase all the quirky and unique merchandise that they can get their hands on. This applies whether you make it to the holy San Diego Comic-Con, or if you attend one of the thousands of smaller events held around the world.. Should you be lucky enough to reach the front of a queue you are likely to be pushed upon with the force of a thousand Supermen behind you, each one of them as hungry as you are to reach the front of a panel and get a sight of their heroes. Youll be jabbed, elbowed and squeezed to bits, emerging from the hall looking as though youve been beaten by Batman. These bruises are like a battle scar, but they are harder to show off and impress people with as you have to explain that they were inflicted on you at a comic convention. The crush of the crowd at Comic-Cons weren't so bad a few years ago as the event wasnt that big, but now that these events are huge the risk is massive. Special precautions are taken to stop any potential stampeding, but conventions still sees you sharing your personal space with thousands of other like-minded people, and they will do anything to get a glimpse of writers, artists and actors.
