10 Times Batman Was The Villain
He can be an all-star jerk sometimes.
Batman may be known as one of the greatest superheroes of the DC multiverse, but over his decades of crime fighting the vigilante has strayed the line on several occasions - crossing from one of the World's Finest to an all-star jerk.
Sometimes the original Dark Knight isn't directly to blame, with his successors twisting the bat-mantle into something even darker, usually with devastating results. Though, even if Bruce wasn't the direct cause of his successors' actions, he often has a hand in leading them down that path - and that's on top of the villainous acts he has committed personally.
To be fair to Wayne, us readers should have probably seen a lot more of these coming - seeing as the character is, in the simplest terms, a deranged billionaire that dresses up as a bat to punch crime with his child soldiers. Sure, there's a little more nuance to it than that, but that nuance doesn't exactly stop such a set-up from seeming far more evil than heroic.
So, without further ado, let's set about ruining the image of a character that was probably your childhood hero!
10. When He Used The Mobius Chair - Justice League: Darkseid War: Batman #1
A chair that provides complete knowledge of the universe is something that one would assume would positively help the world's greatest detective - imagine all the cases he could solve, all the mysteries he could unravel! In this case the opposite ends up being true though, Batman using the chair to enact a Minority Report-esque system of pre-emptive justice.
Again, that might have been a good thing had Batman actually bothered to gather the necessary evidence needed to put those he apprehended in jail. Instead, he just arrested individuals based on their thoughts - making him perhaps more arrogant and authoritarian than the post Civil War II Captain Marvel.
Who would've thought that possible?
Did I mention that he also marooned a group of criminals on the southern tip of Antarctica, 50 miles from any settlement, most likely to die? Because he did.
