Wanda Maximoff is about to hit centre stage in the MCU's most ambitious project yet. WandaVision is set to explore the complicated mind of Scarlet Witch in an almost sitcom style series with the potential to change the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe forever.

As one of Marvel’s most complicated and powerful characters, it’s incredibly exciting to be getting an in-depth look at her life. From her relationship with her brother, her efforts to have children and her marriage to Vision, there’s plenty to explore. Though, not all of her life has been as pleasant as the family sitcom style of WandaVision would have you believe.

That’s right, things are about to get incredibly dark as Wanda’s history is full of horrible, traumatic events that are about to spill out all over the MCU and leave our favourite heroes with one heck of a mess to clean up.

For the longest time, Marvel had no idea what to do with her character. This means she has a whole host of alternate backstories, horrific deaths, terrifying situations and less than ideal love interests. So, when reality starts to break down, Marvel Studios have a bunch of scenarios to unleash when WandaVision comes to our screens.

10. Left To Be Raised By A Cow

Pietro and Wanda's childhood was rough, no matter which origin story you're looking at. Oddly, one of the nicer ones involves being raised by a sentient cow.

Deep within Wundagore Mountain lies a dangerous Elder God of unimaginable power (more on that later). It's also where a completely oblivious Herbert Edgar Wyndham decided to set up shop to work on his newest creation, the New Men, a race of animal-human hybrids.

One such creature was Bova Ayrshire, a Guernsey cow. As one of the High Evolutionary's first creation, she was essentially a mother figure to the other New Men, making her a prime candidate to help Magda Lehnsherr when she arrived at Wundagore seeking refuge.

Bova served as midwife to Magda, assisting with the birth of the twins, however she would be thrust into a much more important role. Fearing Erik would find her and harm the children, Madga escaped the mountain and left the new-borns behind.

As the only one with any idea how to nurture, Bova had little choice but to raise the twins until they were adopted by the Maximoffs.
