Dawn Of X: 10 Spin-Off Comics Marvel Must Make

We all know Wolverine and Storm; what about the lesser known "side characters" and their stories?

In 2019, Marvel will be publishing their two new editions to the Marvel Universe; House of X and Powers of X (pronounced as "Powers of Ten"). Both comics represent one crossover event in the Marvel Universe that will lead to a wider relaunch, dubbed Dawn of X.

As revealed at the Marvel next Big Thing panel at Comic Con, Jonathan Hickman will be spearheading a full relaunch of the X-Men line that includes six new titles in the Dawn of X franchise.

Many of the titles featured in Dawn of X will also feature familiar team names that have been fundamentally re-imagined for Dawn of X. One example being Excalibur, which features Betsy Braddock abandoning the Psylocke name and taking up the mantle of Captain Britain. Further series based on the New Mutants, X-Force, and the Marauders are all planned, but there's likely to be more on the way.

With our old, beloved heroes seemingly being reinvented for Dawn of X, one can’t help but wonder who else will feature in their own off-shoot of the series. Marvel certainly doesn't have a shortage of mutants to choose from, but who deserves their own comic the most?

10. Angel

Warren Kenneth Worthington III, originally known as Angel and later as Archangel, was born in Centerport, New York, to Kathryn Worthington and Warren Worthington Jr.

In his adolescence his feathered wings begin to grow from his shoulder blades.

At first, Warren feels he is a freak and an outsider, but he soon learns that he can use his wings to fly and help people. When there is a fire in his dormitory, he borrows some props from the school's drama department, dresses up as a heavenly angel, and rescues his friends.

He soon learns that he is in fact a mutant. He dons a mask and costume, calls himself the Avenging Angel, and becomes a solo adventurer, before being recruited by Professor Charles Xavier for the X-Men.

A spin-off of Angel’s story could focus on his misadventures during his schooling years, long before he met ‘the Creator’ or became Archangel, focusing on the mischief that originally came alongside his powers, and his struggle to do good as a lone hero.

Warren's status as a wealthy playboy, as well as being an outspoken individual who chafes at the notion of being told what to do, would make him to ideal protagonist to his own story. An Iron Man-type persona, with an x-gene for extra awesomeness.
