For some movie fans, the 80s will never be surpassed. The 70s might have been a more important decade for cinema, with its gritty, groundbreaking releases, but the 80s' high output of tongue-in-cheek blockbusters, violent action movies and teen comedies was a lot more fun. From 'The Empire Strikes Back' to 'Raiders of the Lost Ark,' the 80s is a decade filled with hits that are still widely celebrated today. Of course, that's not to say there weren't a lot of stinkers in that time too, and the decade is also known for its high ratio of cheesy, badly made flops. This list takes a look at ten awesome 80s movies that time forgot. From quirky, unique comedies to exceptional action films that didn't quite gain legendary status, each of these entries are well worth a watch for any discerning movie fan.
10. Penn & Teller Get Killed
This strange black comedy, starring the famous titular magicians, didn't quite connect with audiences or critics at the time of release in 1989. One of the most ridiculously meta films ever made, Penn & Teller Get Killed was a bizarre experience that never quite made it clear what was fantasy and what was reality. In true Penn and Teller fashion, the whole film seems designed to mess with the audience's heads, all the way up to the incredibly dark ending (the clue is in the title). It was panned by critics at the time, but Penn & Teller Get Killed has since gained small but loyal cult following, who appreciate the film for its uncompromisingly dark humour and satirical look at entertainment as a whole.
