10 Heroes We Need To See In The DC Cinematic Universe

There's plenty of empty chairs at the Justice League table...

If the Marvel cinematic universe has taught us anything, it's that there's a clear place in cinema for superheroes and comic-based narratives. Conversely, it could be that there's a huge market for comic-based franchising in cinema, as The Avengers and friends have shown us. Marvel has their expanded continuity well under-way, but competitor DC Comics are just beginning in their hope to emulate that same level of success. In terms of time-line DC are somewhat behind Marvel with 2013's Man of Steel being the first canon film, with 2016's Batman Vs Superman on the horizon and Justice League following a year later. With that in mind, we're going to name ten heroes we'd like to see on the big screen in the DC cinematic universe. We'll be paying particular attention to the lesser-known, not obvious heroes on the DC roster, specifically the kind of characters needed to flesh the continuity out beyond the likes of flagship characters such as Batman, Superman, The Green Lantern etc. Those usual suspects will be appearing in the Justice League film, we're attempting to look at the bigger picture beyond that, posing the question: what does DC have to work with after the Justice League? Before we dive right in, here are some honourable mentions and noted exclusions; Constantine (currently on TV), Green Arrow (currently on TV), Shazam (recently failed adaptation), Swamp Thing (several past adaptations), Ragman (too obscure), Cyborg (confirmed in Batman Vs Superman), Deadman (too many characters from Justice League Dark), The Atom (sidelined in recent years), Captain Atom (sidelined in recent years), Raven (also a member of the Teen Titans).
