10 Horror Movies Too Scary To Finish Watching

These horror movies make you say nope, nope, nope!!

If there was any doubt about horror being one of the most popular, awesome and successful genres out there, then 2022 has blown such concerns away like the gushing of a thousand winds, as this year has been an exceptional time for scary movies. Despite this, there's a twisted irony to seeing the spooky side of cinema gaining such mainstream appeal.

Few movies actively want to send cinema-goers sprinting out of the theatre like a teen running from Michael Myers, or cause home viewers to switch their devices off as if possessed by a poltergeist. Yet, for horror, it's a badge of honour to scare folks so badly they can't even finish the movie.

It's wild to think that this is what audiences seek. But, the heart wants what it wants, and sometimes scaring yourself silly is just what the doctor ordered.

These following scare-fests deserve plenty of credit in that regard, as they perform this duty to the nth degree. If you can sit through these traumatic films from top to tail without hitting the pause button, then please be sure to use your powers of bravery for good, not evil.

10. Black Sabbath (1963)

You might be thinking, "come on, a horror anthology movie from 1963? There's no way that's going to freak me out, not with my desensitised modern sensibilities", and to an extent, your (very self-aware) response would be correct. Black Sabbath is a classic horror that delivers three separate spooky tales, most of which won't keep you up at night. But, then, you'll arrive at the final tale, "The Drop Of Water".

This short segment is simple yet painfully effective. It follows a nurse who is given the task of preparing a dead body for burial. However, she soon becomes haunted by terrifying occurrences after stealing a ring from the corpse's finger.

Despite being nearly six decades old, the practical effects on display in this short have an unholy vibe that will haunt your nightmares. The infamous corpse the story centres around is brought to life with an uncanny grotesqueness that makes it easily one of the scariest dead bodies in all of horror. If anything, the movie's age only adds to the archaic terror.

As this monstrous object begins to animate itself and haunt the protagonist, you'll find yourself quaking in your boots and wishing for the whole experience to be over as quickly as possible.
