Who doesn't love a spot of Lovecraftian horror, existential dread and cosmic nihilism? Well, most people, really, but there's nothing better for horror fans. Still, even the most seasoned horror veteran will find themselves uneasy when watching this flick.

The Void pits a collection of people against unwinnable odds as they are trapped inside a hospital by a gathering of hooded cultists. As if that wasn't bad enough, they are then forced to contend with abominable creatures. It's a film that doesn't let up, throwing you right into the action and giving you very little space to breathe right up until the shocking climax.

There's no doubt the pride of this movie is the use of practical effects, which harken back to the golden age of '80s creature features. It's a movie filled to the brim with grotesque creations, body horror, gore and shocking imagery. This barrage of frights makes The Void a tough watch, turning it into a scary experience that many people won't be able to handle.

It's a horror that has everything, including gratuitous violence, a compelling concept, a heart-pounding sense of pacing and more. It's a shame most people won't be able to witness the whole thing.
