I love Quentin Tarantino. He makes over-the-top, fun homages to classic genre movies. Theyre modern-day pulps thrown up on the big screen instead of the cheap paper of old and tailored for a modern audience. His writing is snappy and his characters never fail to entertain. And no one can doubt the mans enthusiasm for his work. Weve seen Tarantino reference his other films constantly. In Reservoir Dogs, theres a reference to Mr. Whites former partner, Alabama, who was one of the main characters in the Tarantino-written True Romance. Another True Romance connection comes from movie producer Lee Donowitz, the same name as Inglourious Basterd Donny Donowitz, a.k.a. the Bear Jew. In Pulp Fiction, Mia Wallace describes a pilot she made called Fox Force Five, which sounds pretty similar to The Deadly Viper Assassination Squad from Kill Bill (and both Mia and the Bride were played by Uma Thurman). And of course, everyone knows that the real name of Mr. Blonde from Reservoir Dogs is Vic Vega, and that hes the brother of Pulp Fictions Vincent Vega. The director himself has confirmed that Kill Bill and From Dusk Till Dawn are the kinds of movies that the characters in his universe watch. Makes sense, given the Fox Force Five/DeVAS connection. Want another crazier connection? Django Unchaineds Broomhilda, played by Kerry Washington? Her last name is Von Shaft, making her and Django the ancestors of the legendary blaxploitation detective, John Shaft. With all these connections between the different characters in the movie, one cant help but think about the potential spin-offs that could be made. And Tarantino himself is no exception. But sometimes his enthusiasm gets the better of him and Tarantino likes to talk, and in those talks, hes discussed the possibility of a number of spin-offs that will probably never happen. As a Tarantino fan, these little teases get a bit frustrating (still waiting on Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair). Here are ten spin-offs that would be great to see on the big screen.
