10 Most Brutal Deaths In Harry Potter Movies

Sorry to remind you about the whole Dobby thing again...

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is very firmly a family-friendly brand. Its theme parks, studio tours, merchandise, books, movies, and an assortment of other products are aimed towards people of all ages, and the series is normally marketed with a playful spark and an inviting, universal appeal.

But still, this is the same franchise that begins with a small boy being attacked by an old man wielding a magic stick, and continues on for seven books as that same old man continually tries to murder that same small boy. It's a bit messed up.

In all seriousness though, Harry Potter is a story of good versus evil, and the dark side of that coin has more than its fair share of despicable moments across the entire saga, resulting in a lot of deaths within the wizarding world - and some of them, if you really stop and look at what's happening, are pretty damn disturbing.

From innocent children to evil professors, absolutely nobody is safe in the magical universe, and for those unfortunate souls who reside within it, there are plenty of painful, terrifying and scary ways for them to leave their mortality behind.

10. Disintegrated (The Snatchers)

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 2 consists almost entirely of Hogwarts being assaulted by Voldemort, his followers, and an assortment of other sinister forces including Snatchers, trolls, and enormous hairy spiders.

But strangely, for such a huge battle, we see very few onscreen deaths. This is partly due to the fact that the movie is meant for families, of course, and plus, the majority of available screen time had to be dedicated to Harry's Horcrux-hunting mission.

Still, we do see a couple of deaths, and they're all rather unpleasant.

One of these happens early in the battle, shortly after the heroes of Hogwarts have laid down their defences and are bracing themselves for Voldemort's attack. At this stage, a large group of Snatchers approaches Neville Longbottom - who has been assigned to keep an eye on the bridge - and starts charging towards him.

And that decision proves to be a big mistake. Rather than reaching Neville, a few of the Snatchers are disintegrated by a powerful shielding charm instead, which turns their fleshy human bodies into a mess of electric-blue sparks.

While this might not seem too "brutal" on the surface, if you listen closely, you can clearly hear the Snatchers let out screams of anguish as they die, indicating that this seemingly speedy demise wasn't entirely painless.
