2014 was a great year for movie trailers. From the preview of some of this year€™s blockbusters to lately the first teases of 2015€™s biggest movies, there was certainly a lot to enjoy. The internet has been abuzz with theories, excitement and the usual grumbles as we got our first look at some hotly anticipated movies. Naturally some of the biggest and boldest movie trailers of the year belonged to some huge blockbuster movies. But there were some surprises too; trailers that made audiences excited for a film that they had heard little, or even nothing, about. There was also a good dollop of nostalgia too; from dinosaurs to a galaxy far, far away, there were some trailers that reminded fans of great cinematic experiences from the past and left them hungry for more. The great trailers of 2014 were those that sold enough of the movie to get audiences excited without giving away too much. Watching all 100 trailers for The Amazing Spider-Man 2, fans would have gone into the cinema realising they€™d seen a good percentage of the movie already. Other trailers went for stunts to try and hook audiences in; Into The Storm had a tornado made out of fire, but it probably wasn€™t enough to make people think this was any more than a bigger version of Twister. Then there were those that went straight for the best bit; the bathroom scene in Paddington trailer had kids rolling with laughter but watching the film audiences probably felt they had seen the best bits already, as charming and fun as that movie was.
