10 Movie Trailers That Ruled 2014

10. Birdman

An actor that played a superhero (Batman) playing an actor in the film that played a superhero (Birdman), wrestling in his underpants with another character played by an actor who played a superhero (The Hulk). Even with this first trailer there was a great self-referential of the genre the film was ripping in to and it grabbed people with the promise of something darkly comical and altogether special. It was a trailer that slipped by rather unnoticed compared to behemoths of cinema arriving next year. But based on this trailer alone, it is sure to get some great buzz when it is released in January. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-efiEOb2qEU The first trailer for Birdman works because there is enough to intrigue potential audiences without really showing them what the film is all about. A weary Michael Keaton wanders down a back stage corridor, a slow-downed version of €™Crazy€™ playing is just an extra touch; you can see the madness in Keaton€™s performance already even if audiences know nothing about him. Throw in the bizarre explosions, a sense of tragedy and Keaton running down a street in his underpants and we know all we need to know. This is a film about man having a complete and utter breakdown that is going to be fascinating - and fun - to watch.
