You can have a gripping story, a quotable script, scintillating special effects, and a visionary director at the helm to make a good movie, but if you want to catapult it into the league of timeless classics, then it helps to get the perfect actor in to play a pivotal role that no one else could portray in the same way in order to get the critics flooding the film with praise. You may be able to guess a couple of the choices I have made already, but remember, they are only obvious because the performances were so dazzling. This list, which is in no particular order, is for those perfect casting choices that spawned big buck franchises, won prestigious awards, and made film history.
10. Samuel L. Jackson Jules Winnfield in Pulp Fiction
It was a long road of playing small bit drug addicts and ill-fated losers before Quentin Tarantino gave Samuel his big chance to entertain a wider audience, and he sure didnt disappoint. With a script that was a revelation and a solid cast putting in great performances, Pulp Fiction was always bound to be a game-changer, but Jules was the standout character, with Samuel providing a natural humorous charisma that no other actor would be able to pull off in the same way. His 30th film appearance in a career spanning over 20 years, Samuel was finally getting the international recognition he had been working towards, and the role earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor.
