10 Predictions For What The MCU Will Look Like 10 Years From Now
The Infinity Saga has ended, but what will the end of the MCU's next era look like?
The Marvel Cinematic Universe kicked off in 2008 with Iron Man, and a little over ten years later, what has since become known as "The Infinity Saga" came to an end in 2019's Avengers: Endgame. Now, Phase 4 begins this November thanks to the recently delayed Black Widow, and it's clear that by the time another decade passes, the MCU will once again be unrecognisable.
After all, when Tony Stark first outed himself as Iron Man, none of us could have imagined hundreds of heroes later charging into battle alongside a Mjolnir-wielding Captain America against Thanos!
With the X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Deadpool all set to arrive in the MCU alongside characters like the Eternals, Blade, and She-Hulk, this shared world will one day be every bit as unfamiliar as it was when Phase 3 reached its end. As a result, we can't help but wonder just how much things will have changed another decade from now.
Here, we share ten game-changing predictions for just how different the MCU will be in ten years, with new heroes stepping into the spotlight, different villains making themselves known, and what a team like The Avengers might look like. There have even signs about some of these coming to pass, and so it's fair to say that this comic book universe is about to get crazier than ever...
10. TV Show Characters Make Their Return
While TV shows like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Daredevil, and Inhumans are supposed to be set in the MCU, Marvel Television and Marvel Studios are two separate entities, and the former isn't allowed to do anything that affects what happens on the big screen. That's why the likes of Iron Fist and Luke Cage were always set around the events of 2012's The Avengers.
Now, Kevin Feige is in charge of what happens both in cinemas and on TV, and Jeph Loeb (the man in charge of the aforementioned shows) has been ousted as a result. Feige once admitted that he hadn't watched Daredevil, and given the negative response to many of Marvel's small screen efforts, the chances of him keeping the same actors and continuing storylines is highly unlikely.
With rumblings of the Inhumans being reintroduced in Ms. Marvel and plenty of opportunities for the likes of The Punisher and Quake to reappear, it's inevitable that at least some of these heroes and villains will be reimagined for the MCU-proper over the next few years. We don't expect to see all of them, but a fair few will get the live-action treatment they deserve.
