10 Ways To Dramatically Improve The Marvel Cinematic Universe

By K.J. Stewart /

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is incredibly popular at the moment - indeed some of its instalments (namely Iron Man 3 and The Avengers) have globally grossed well over $1bn at the box office. However, there are certainly some aspects of these superhero movies that could do with some improvement. I'm no film-maker, I don't claim to know better than Marvel Studios, Disney, Joss Whedon or any other entity involved in the making of these movies, I'm merely writing this from the viewpoint of a typical fan of the franchise and I think that, generally speaking, I speak for the majority. And on that note, here are ten ways to dramatically improve the Marvel Cinematic Universe...

10. Enhanced Character Development

When it comes to the main characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, not all of them are very interesting or relatable thanks to a notable lack of character development. There's no problem with the likes of Tony Stark/Iron Man, Steve Rogers/Captain America, Bruce Banner/Hulk or Thor, because they've had their own titular or origin movies and we got to know them through all their troubles, strife and learning curves. However, with the likes of Black Widow, Hawkeye and even Nick Fury, if you're not a comic book fan, these are just characters who appeared and were thrown in to the action almost immediately. Hints at their past have been given but, for characters who play such a major part (and particularly for the heroic characters that we are meant to sympathise with), it would be much better if, in the future, they are more developed before playing pivotal roles in the movies.
