12 Recent Movies Better Reviewed Than Green Book

The Academy screwed up.

The world is still reeling from Green Book's surprise Best Picture Oscar win, sending film fans into a frenzy as they try to understand how the middling race drama prevailed over vastly superior competition such as Black Panther, BlacKkKlansman, The Favourite, Roma and A Star Is Born, all of which were better-reviewed by quite a large margin.

Its win becomes even more embarrassing for the Academy when you consider that Green Book is the worst-reviewed Best Picture winner since Crash in 2006, with a 79% Rotten Tomatoes score and a decidedly unremarkable 7.28/10 average from critics (just barely above Crash's 7.22).

That's not a particularly high critical bar for a Best Picture winner to clear, as evidenced by this diverse list of films which bettered it critically, many of which shouldn't really have any business scoring stronger reviews than the "best" film of the year (according to the Academy, at least).
