Never has a top lip caused so much fury as in Justice League.

Almost every movie nowadays contains some form of CGI, and the vast majority of the biggest films released in any year will be totally awash with complex visual effects.

At its best CGI can transport audiences to another world and heighten their immersion, but when it's not in the hands of meticulous auteurs such as James Cameron and Alfonso CuarĂ³n, it can easily give way to visual messiness if not straight-up ugliness.

Whether due to well-noted production issues, crushing deadlines or sheer filmmaking laziness, some tentpoles are host to some of the roughest and most stunningly unimpressive CGI you'll ever find in movies costing anywhere from $90 million to $300+ million.

12. The Hulkbuster - Avengers: Infinity War

Marvel Studios

Though Avengers: Infinity War did a remarkable job bringing Thanos (Josh Brolin) to life with state-of-the-art CGI, there are a few rough patches in other aspects of the film which clearly weren't as much of a priority.

Immediately following Thor's (Chris Hemsworth) unforgettable arrival in Wakanda, the Russos cut to a painfully janky-looking shot of Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) inside the Hulkbuster armour as he laughs and quips, "You guys are so screwed now!"

What should've been a fun moment is instead distractingly repulsive, because the motion of Ruffalo's head doesn't track one-to-one with the motion of the Hulkbuster armour.

It just looks like his head has been lazily keyframed to cling to the rim of the Hulkbuster helmet, which in a $300+ million movie is completely embarrassing.
